Mackie DL16S

The Mackie DL16S is a 16-channel wireless digital mixer in a rugged stagebox-style chassis with built-in Wi-Fi. It features 16 recallable Onyx+ mic preamps, eight assignable XLR outputs, powerful channel and bus processing, four stereo FX processors, and a 16×16 USB audio interface, all controlled from the Master Fader app on iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows. Mackie DL16S: Mix From Anywhere

With built-in Wi-Fi, the DL16S frees you from a fixed front-of-house position. Connect a tablet or phone and mix from the audience, adjust monitors from the stage, or let musicians control their own mixes. Up to 20 devices can connect at once, and Access Limiting keeps band members from changing the main mix.

Steel construction and large rubber corners make the DL16S road-tough, and the integrated handle makes it easy to carry.

Processing and Effects

Each of the 16 input channels has a 4-band PEQ, HPF, gate, compressor, and RTA/spectrograph, with Modern and Vintage options for EQ and dynamics. Each of the 13 output buses has a 4-band PEQ, HPF/LPF, 31-band GEQ, compressor/limiter, alignment delay, and RTA. Four stereo FX processors provide reverb, delay, chorus, flange, and more, with dedicated sends and returns.

Setting Up the DL16S

Place the DL16S on stage or in a rack, connect microphones and instruments, and connect its outputs to your PA and monitors. Open Master Fader on your tablet, join the DL16S’s Wi-Fi network (or connect a router via Ethernet for better range), and recall Onyx+ preamp settings and presets to start your mix. Use USB to record the show or run a virtual soundcheck.

What to Pair With the DL16S

Pair the DL16S with an iPad or Android tablet, a dedicated Wi-Fi router for larger rooms, a rack case, powered speakers and monitors, and a laptop for USB recording.

Recording With the DL16S

The 16×16 USB 2.0 audio interface sends every channel to your Mac or PC for multitrack recording, then lets you play the tracks back through the mixer for a virtual soundcheck without the band. A dedicated stereo return channel plays intermission music and backing tracks, and you can even use computer plug-ins in a live environment.
