Soundcraft Notepad-8FX: Mixing With Lexicon Polish

The Notepad-8FX adds HARMAN digital signal processing with iconic Lexicon reverb, echo, and delay to Soundcraft’s compact mixer format. Add space and depth to vocals and instruments without outboard gear, and use tap tempo to sync delays to the music.

Ducking for Presenters

Ducking automatically lowers background music when someone speaks, so presenters, DJs, and podcasters are always heard clearly without riding the faders.

Setting Up the Notepad-8FX

Connect microphones to the two mic inputs, line-level sources to channels 3/4 and 5/6, and stereo RCA sources to channels 7/8. Connect the XLR main outputs to powered speakers and the aux send to a monitor or external effect. Connect USB to your computer to record your mix, set gain, EQ, and pan for each channel, and add effects to taste.

What to Pair With the Notepad-8FX

Pair the Notepad-8FX with vocal microphones, powered speakers or studio monitors, closed-back headphones, and quality XLR and instrument cables.

USB Recording and Playback

The built-in USB audio interface records your mix to a Mac or PC and plays back audio from the computer. It’s plug-and-play on Mac, and Windows uses Soundcraft’s driver.

Familiar Controls

Each channel offers gain or trim, EQ, an aux send, pan, and level, and the master section includes a master fader, LED meters, and a rotary headphone volume control with selectable master or aux monitoring.

Built to Last

A durable metal enclosure handles daily use and travel, and the mixer ships with an external power supply.

Where to Use It

The Notepad-8FX is ideal for two-person podcasts, singer-songwriter gigs, small worship spaces, classrooms, and home studios that want built-in effects.

Mixing Tips

Set each mic’s gain so the meters peak around 0 dB, pan sources for a clear stereo image, and add just enough reverb to give vocals space without washing them out. Engage ducking when a host talks over background music.

Notepad-8FX vs. Notepad-5

The Notepad-8FX adds a second mic preamp, more line inputs, Lexicon effects, an aux send, and ducking compared to the Notepad-5, making it the better choice for two-person shows and small live setups.
