The Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12 is a professional hybrid direct-drive turntable that combines the sound and feel of the PLX-1000 with tone-arm-free DVS control. In Digital Vinyl mode, the Magvel Clamp holds the record firmly to the platter and controls rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro directly, so the needle never skips no matter how hard you scratch. Switch to Analog mode and it plays real vinyl with the tone arm, just like a PLX-1000.

Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12: Vinyl Feel Without Skips

Traditional DVS relies on a needle reading timecode, which can skip during aggressive cuts. The PLX-CRSS12 reads platter movement directly in Digital Vinyl mode, and the Magvel Clamp keeps the record locked to the platter, so you get the true feel of vinyl with rock-solid tracking. The clamp dial adjusts torque to make the record feel lighter or heavier without changing slipmats.

Performance Pads and OLED Display

Four performance pads below the platter fire Hot Cues and samples, and a button switches between pads 1-4 and 5-8. In Serato DJ Pro they support Hot Cue, Sampler, Stems, Scratch Bank, Roll, and Saved Loop, and in rekordbox they support Hot Cue, Sampler, Track Separation, Sample Scratch, Pad FX, and Beat Jump. The OLED display shows tempo range and key for Step Pitch, plus BPM, deck number, and software in Digital Vinyl mode.

Setting Up the PLX-CRSS12

Connect the turntable to your computer over USB-C, and connect it to a DJ mixer that supports DVS for rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro. Fit the Magvel Clamp, set your preferred weight and torque, and choose a brake speed with the front switch. For vinyl, switch to Analog mode and connect the phono outputs to your mixer’s phono inputs.
