Product Details

The JBL SRX928S is a dual 18-inch powered subwoofer designed to complement JBL’s SRX900 Series line arrays and full-range speakers. Two JBL 2279-1 Differential Drive woofers deliver transparent, linear bass down to 31 Hz with up to 140 dB peak SPL, and integrated Class-D amplification and DSP make it a true plug-and-play solution for rental companies, touring artists, and installations.

  • 60 Hz and 80 Hz operating modes for SRX900 full-range speakers
  • Dual etherCON ports, HARMAN HControl, LCD, and LevelMax limiting

JBL SRX928S: Deep, Clean Low End

The SRX928S uses two 2279-1 18-inch woofers with dual 3-inch voice coils and JBL’s patented Differential Drive technology for maximum sensitivity and power handling in a lighter, more compact design. A large central low-frequency port improves airflow and reduces audible turbulence even at high output, so bass stays tight and clean at concert levels.

Cardioid Control and System Compatibility

SRX900 subwoofers can be deployed in omnidirectional or cardioid configurations by selecting the appropriate preset and cabinet orientation, accessible from the rear-panel LCD or software. Cardioid setups reduce bass on stage and behind the array for cleaner monitors and less spill. The SRX928S is acoustically compatible with all SRX900 full-range speakers, with 60 Hz and 80 Hz operating modes.

Setting Up the SRX928S

Place the subwoofers at the front of the stage or under the flown array. Select the operating mode that matches your full-range speakers, choose an omnidirectional or cardioid preset, and orient the cabinets accordingly. Set delay to align the subs with the array, and use the optional base plate to ground-stack SRX900 line arrays on top.

What to Pair With the SRX928S

Pair the SRX928S with JBL SRX906LA or SRX910LA line arrays, SRX900 base plate accessories for ground stacking, an Ethernet switch for network control, and transport covers or carts.

Why Cardioid Subwoofer Arrays?

Bass naturally radiates in all directions, so traditional subwoofers flood the stage and the area behind them with low end. A cardioid array uses some cabinets facing backward with DSP delay and polarity to cancel sound behind the array while reinforcing it toward the audience. The result is cleaner stage monitoring, less feedback risk, and better control in reflective rooms.

Built for Touring

The SRX928S is housed in a reinforced 0.7-inch plywood enclosure with passively cooled Class-D amplification and a universal power supply. Its DSP provides 24 user-adjustable filters, 2000 ms of delay, and advanced system tools, and LevelMax limiting protects the drivers from overload.
