Product Details

The Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV1 is a two-channel DJ controller for Serato DJ Lite with a battle-style layout inspired by a professional DJM-S mixer and PLX turntable setup. Large jog wheels, horizontal tempo sliders, center-mounted performance pads, and scratch-focused features make it ideal for aspiring scratch and open-format DJs.

  • Battle-style layout modeled on a DJM-S mixer and PLX turntables
  • Large 154 mm jog wheels for precise scratching
  • Performance pads in the center, near the crossfader
  • Tracking Scratch and Scratch Bank pad modes
  • Lever FX paddles for hands-free effects
  • Works with Serato DJ Lite (up to 4 decks); Serato DJ Pro compatible

Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV1: Built for Scratch DJs

Most entry-level controllers put the jog wheels on the outside and the mixer in the middle. The DDJ-REV1 flips that for scratch DJs, using a battle-style layout with horizontal tempo sliders above the decks, just like turntables. The performance pads sit in the center near the crossfader, so you can trigger cues and samples while scratching. That makes it a natural stepping stone toward professional DJM-S and turntable setups.

DDJ-REV1 Scratch Features

Tracking Scratch automatically returns the track to the cue point after you scratch, so you don’t have to close the fader by hand. Scratch Bank loads scratch samples from four assignable banks, letting you practice and perform with classic scratch sounds. Pad modes also include Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Sampler, and Trans, and the Lever FX paddles add effects without taking your hands off the jogs and fader.

Setting Up the DDJ-REV1

Install Serato DJ Lite, connect the DDJ-REV1 to your computer over USB, and it’s recognized automatically, with power coming over the USB connection. Connect the master output to powered speakers, plug in headphones, and start mixing. Serato DJ Lite supports up to four decks, and you can upgrade to Serato DJ Pro for more features.

What to Pair With the DDJ-REV1

Add a pair of DJ headphones, powered speakers or studio monitors, and a laptop stand. A protective bag or case keeps the controller safe on the way to gigs, and a Serato DJ Pro license unlocks advanced features.

Learning to Scratch on the DDJ-REV1

Start with the basics: the baby scratch, where you move the jog wheel back and forth with the fader open, then the forward and release. Once those feel natural, add fader cuts to create chirps and transforms. Use Scratch Bank to load classic scratch sounds like “ahhh” and “fresh” so you’re practicing with the same samples scratch DJs use. Tracking Scratch keeps your cue point locked so you can focus on technique rather than resetting the track.
