PreSonus Revelator: Studio Processing in a USB Mic
Most USB microphones simply turn your voice into a digital signal. The Revelator also processes it. Using the Universal Control software, you can apply the same high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor, EQ, and limiter tools that engineers use on PreSonus StudioLive consoles, and the processing runs inside the microphone, so it works with any streaming or recording app.
Presets designed for broadcast, podcasting, and streaming get you a polished sound quickly, and you can save your own to recall at the touch of a button.
Revelator Polar Patterns
Use cardioid for solo streaming, podcasting, and voice-over: it focuses on you and rejects room noise. Switch to figure-8 for a face-to-face interview with one microphone between two people. Use omnidirectional to capture a group around a table or the ambience of a room.
Revelator Loopback Mixing for Streamers
In Multi Mode, the Revelator shows up on your computer as multiple audio devices, including two loopback channels. Route game audio, music, or a call app into the loopback channels and mix them with your microphone, then send one finished mix to OBS or your streaming platform. It solves one of the most common streaming headaches without a separate hardware mixer.
Getting the Best Sound From the Revelator
Place the Revelator on a desk stand or boom arm about six to eight inches from your mouth, and speak toward the front of the microphone, marked by the PreSonus logo. As a condenser, it picks up more of the room than a dynamic microphone, so treat hard reflective surfaces with a rug, curtains, or acoustic panels if your voice sounds echoey. Start with one of the built-in presets, enable the noise gate if you have background noise between phrases, and use the compressor to keep your level consistent.
Use headphones to monitor yourself through the microphone’s headphone output, which keeps game and call audio out of your recording and avoids echo for your audience.
