Product Details

The Shure MV7 is a professional USB/XLR dynamic microphone built for close-mic voice work. Inspired by the legendary SM7B, it pairs a highly directional dynamic element with a touch-panel interface and onboard digital signal processing, so podcasters, streamers, and voice talent can get a polished, broadcast-quality sound with or without a separate audio interface.

Highlights

  • Dual USB and XLR outputs for recording to a computer or a mixer/interface, even at the same time
  • Highly directional cardioid dynamic element with Voice Isolation Technology
  • Touch panel controls for mic gain, headphone level, monitor mix, and mute
  • Built-in 3.5 mm headphone output for zero-latency monitoring
  • Auto Level Mode, switchable EQ, and custom presets through the ShurePlus MOTIV app
  • Rugged all-metal construction with an adjustable integrated yoke

Shure MV7: SM7B-Inspired Sound in a USB/XLR Mic

The MV7 takes the look and voice-focused tuning of the SM7B and adds the convenience of a direct USB connection. Its optimized frequency response gives voices a rich, natural tone with a pleasing proximity effect, while the tight cardioid pattern keeps keyboard clicks, room echo, and background noise out of your recording.

Because it has both USB and XLR outputs, the MV7 grows with you. Start by plugging straight into a laptop over USB, then move to a mixer or audio interface over XLR as your setup expands. You can even use both outputs at once to capture a backup recording.

MV7 Onboard DSP and the ShurePlus MOTIV App

When connected over USB, the MV7 works with the ShurePlus MOTIV desktop and mobile apps. Auto Level Mode automatically adjusts gain and compression as you speak, so your levels stay consistent even if you move around or change volume. Prefer manual control? Switch to manual mode to set gain, EQ, compression, and limiter yourself, then save your settings as custom presets.

The touch panel on the microphone puts the most-used controls under your fingertips: tap to mute, slide to adjust gain or headphone volume, and balance how much of your own voice versus computer playback you hear in your headphones.

MV7 Setup Tips for Podcasting and Streaming

Position the MV7 a few inches from your mouth and speak into the end of the microphone, not the side. Using a boom arm or desk stand on the 5/8″-27 thread mount keeps the mic at a consistent distance and away from desk vibration. For the cleanest sound, start in Auto Level Mode with the Near setting, then fine-tune the tone with the Dark, Natural, or Bright presets.

If you are recording multiple hosts, run each MV7 over XLR into a multichannel mixer or interface so you can mix and record every voice on its own track.
