Product Details
The Radial JDX 48 is an amplifier direct box that delivers a consistent, natural guitar or bass amp tone to the PA every night, without a microphone. It takes a feed directly from your amplifier’s speaker output and uses Radial’s JDX speaker emulation to recreate the sound of a dynamic mic on a 4×12 cabinet. Powered by 48V phantom from your console or an included DC supply, it’s a favorite of touring engineers for eliminating bleed and feedback.
Highlights
- Captures amp tone directly from the speaker output
- Multi-stage filter emulates a mic’d 4×12 cabinet
- Reactive load for a natural amp feel
- Powered by 48V phantom or the included DC supply
- Isolated signal path eliminates noise and ground loops
- Works on guitar and bass, live and in the studio
Radial JDX 48: Your Amp Tone, Every Night
Mic placement changes from show to show, and so does the sound. The JDX 48 removes that variable by taking the signal straight from the amp’s head or combo and shaping it to sound like a mic’d cabinet. Engineers can bring up the fader with confidence, knowing the tone will be the same as last night.
Perfect for In-Ear Monitors
Artists on in-ear monitors get a consistent, comfortable guitar or bass feed in their mix, without the room bleed and harshness a close mic can pick up. Lower stage volume also means less feedback for vocal mics.
Setting Up the JDX 48
Connect your amplifier’s speaker output to the JDX 48 input, and connect the thru output to your speaker cabinet. Run an XLR cable from the JDX 48 output to your mixer or stage box and turn on phantom power, or use the included DC supply. Set the mixer gain and add EQ to taste.
What to Pair With the JDX 48
Pair the JDX 48 with quality speaker cables, XLR cables, a mixer or stage box with phantom power, and a dynamic mic if you want to blend a close-mic sound with the direct feed.
Dual Powering for Peace of Mind
Phantom power from the console means one less power supply on stage, but if phantom isn’t available, the included DC supply keeps the JDX 48 running. You’ll never have to play a show without it.
Studio Uses
In the studio, the JDX 48 records a consistent direct amp signal alongside your microphones, giving you an extra tone option at mixdown and a reliable way to track loud amps in rooms where mic’ing is impractical.
Radial Build Quality
Like all Radial DIs, the JDX 48 is built in a rugged steel enclosure designed for years of touring and daily use.
