Mackie SRM-Flex: A Complete PA in One Trip

The SRM-Flex breaks down into four sections that fit together in seconds, and its included carry bag and dust cover make it easy to move from gig to gig. Its wide-dispersion column array spreads sound evenly across the room, so the audience hears consistent sound from front to back and side to side.

Built-In Mixer and App Control

The six-channel digital mixer gives you a physical knob for every critical function, with 2-band EQ on each mono channel, three voicing modes, and three reverb types. Two XLR-1/4-inch combo inputs handle microphones, instruments, and line sources, along with a stereo pair of 1/4-inch line inputs and a 3.5 mm aux input. The physical controls are mirrored in the Mackie app, so you can switch seamlessly between mixing on the unit and mixing from anywhere in the room.

Setting Up the SRM-Flex

Stand the subwoofer/mixer base where you want it, add the extenders, and fit the array module on top. Connect microphones or instruments to the combo inputs, pair your phone for Bluetooth playback and app control, and choose the voicing mode that matches your event. Add reverb to vocals, and use the XLR line output to link a second SRM-Flex for larger rooms.

What to Pair With the SRM-Flex

Pair the SRM-Flex with vocal microphones, mic stands, instrument cables, and a second SRM-Flex for larger audiences. A wireless microphone system adds freedom for presenters and performers.

Column PA Advantages

Column PAs like the SRM-Flex set up faster than traditional speakers on stands, look clean and unobtrusive, and provide wide, even horizontal coverage. Because they can sit behind or beside the performer, they often double as a monitor, which simplifies setups for solo acts and duos.

Choosing a Voicing Mode

The SRM-Flex’s three voicing modes tailor the sound to your event. Speech mode emphasizes vocal clarity for presentations and announcements, music mode adds fullness for background music and DJ playback, and live mode balances vocals and instruments for performances. Choosing the right mode before you start makes the system sound better with less EQ work.
